In a superb match of Rugby League the Batley Bulldogs came back to win in the dying seconds of the game after being awarded a late penalty. Pat Walker was right on target to give the Bulldogs a well deserved win by 24 – 22 against the much fancied Leigh Centurions, who lost in the first game of the 2016 campaign.
After playing uphill in the first half, the Dogs went in at half time at 12 a piece, but after Leigh gained advantage it looked as though they would take home the points as they went on to lead 22-12. But the Bulldogs showed incredible character and resolve with tries from Ulugia and Ainscough to level the scores before Walker took the penalty goal just before full time.
