Last gasp Leigh scores rob Bulldogs

The Batley bulldogs slipped out of the top four today after two Leigh tries in the dying minutes of the game robbed Batley of a sensational win over the highly fancied Centurions. Trailing 19 – 6 at half time and again in the second half by 25 – 12 the Dogs staged a massive comeback with 3 converted tries from Bretherton, Brambani and Harrison to put the Dogs in front at 30-25 with only a few minutes left to play.

However the superior strength of the full timers told in the end, as Leigh crossed the line twice in the dying minutes of the game.

A dissappointing result, no doubt, but also a display full of merit and character. If Batley can reproduce this on friday against the Dragons, then maybe the French won’t have it all their own way. But more importantly, this is a signal for the rest of the season that Batley certainly have the potential to finish in the top 4.
