Doncaster 14 Batley 16
For Batley only the result mattered in a scrappy game as they left it very late to overturn Doncaster’s lead. In front 14 – 6 at half time it looked like Doncaster might go the whole way until Batley hit back late in the game with a tries by Reittie and Southernwood. Cain converted his own try to give Batley the lead for the first time in the match.
After losing the last three matches in style, the two points from this gritty encounter were the only plus in a match where the bulldogs seldom impressed.
The main talking point however was the horrendous injury to Jonny Campbell, who was stretchered off midway through the second half after an injury to his ankle sustained in a tackle.
All in all a game that should be forgotten very quickly. Our sites should be on the big derby with Dewsbury on Friday.
