Dogs joint top after beating Rams
Batley moved to joint top of the Championships after beating rivals Dewsbury by 30-44 at the Tetley’s Stadium on Good Friday. After The Dogs got off to a magnificent start leading 20-0 Dewsbury came back at them and at 26-12 at half time they were back in the match. Batley appeared to have the match in the bag. However the Rams refused to lie down and fought back to 36-30 to set up a nail biting finish, before Batley put the match to bed with a penalty goal from Walker and a converted try from Day.
This celebration of Rugby League was marred somewhat after fighting broke out in the South Stand of the Stadium. Shame on the people involved!
