38 - 12 |
The Batley Bulldogs scored their third consecutive win in their build up to the 2017 season by beating a youthful Castleford team, who gave their second team a run out.
It was seemedly match over after twenty minutes after Batley piled on the pressure down the slope to lead by 20 points to nil through two tries from James Harrison, Dave Scott and Wayne Reittie (two conversations from Pat Walker). Towards the end of the first half Castleford battled themselves back into the game and brought the score line back to 20 – 12.
Playing up the slope in the second half it toook Batley time to get back their hold on the game, but after the youthful Tigers started to tire, the Bulldogs took advantage and scored more points through Dave Scott, Alex Rowe and Brad Hill to make the final score 38-12 in the Bulldogs favour.
Next week it is on to Toulouse in the Championships, to a game which promises a lot after Toulouse beat super league opposition Catalan Dragons last week.
