In another closely fought match Batley Bulldogs took both points at the Shay and saw off Halifax by 17 – 12. Two penalty goals and Brambanis drop goal in the last minute of the game were the difference between the two sides in a game which saw tries from Bretherton and Brambani for the Dogs and from two ex-Batley players Manning and Moore for Halifax. Moore also had a try chalked off in the 21st minute, which will surely cause controversy, as is not unusual, of course, when these two sides meet.
Batley now have 6 points from the first four games, an optimal start to the season when one takes into account the difficult opposition the Dogs have had to face
