Batley Bulldogs made hard work of their Summer Bash duell with Dewsbury at Blackpool on sunday. In a scrappy match ridden with mistakes, it was Dewsbury that took the initiative and within 15 minutes they were 12-0 up through tries from Crookes and Sykes, both converted by
But athough the dogs hit back with two tries from Ulugia and Minikin to make it 12 a piece, Batley were their own worst enemy, letting Dewsbury back in shortly before the break to make the half time score 12-18 to the Rams.
In the second half it was Dewsbury again that started the better with a penalty goal to put them further in front, before Batley finally got their act together with tries from James Brown and Lillycrop, both converted by Walker. Grant got one back for the Rams, but a penalty goal from Walker and 2 drop goals from Brambani and Walker put the lid on a match that is best forgotten.
However the two points gained on sunday put the Dogs back into third place as Bradford lost to Leigh in a hard fought tussle, and Featherstone lost to a rampant Halifax.
