Batley 19 Bradford 26
Lots of praise, but again no points for the Bulldogs as, for the third match in a row, they failed to pick up any points in a match they really could have won.
When Batley went in at half time only 14-6 to the arrears after playing up the slope in the first half, still no one could imagine the dramatics that were to take place in the second half. Two quick tries after the interval put Batley in the driving seat, and a drop goal from sotuherwood put Batley in front 19 – 14 with just a quarter of an hour remaining. In the 72nd minute a penalty was awarded, and Southernwood might have put the game to bed with his kick, but unfortunately missed the target.
In the end it was a tale of the match being five minutes too long as Bradford scored twice in the dying minutes to win the game 26 – 19.
All in all though, no one can put any blame on the Dogs today, a magnificent performance all way round, where luck just didn’t go our way.
The dogs sink to sixth place in the table, but yesterdays performance must give a lot of heart for the next matches.
